I was going through a rough mental time in my life when I signed up for her program which focused on group coaching and one on one coaching. The group aspect was nice because I knew I wasn't alone and had others to hold me accountable, but the one-on-one was great because I was able to focus on my own personal goals. “About a year ago I made a commitment to myself that I was going to develop a healthy lifestyle and lose my weight for the last time in my life. Part of that involved me going to the Y and using an elliptical machine that would also guide me through weights and bodyweight exercises. I was pushing myself, while at the same time, hiding in the corner of the cardio equipment. Making sure I stay as anonymous as possible, I’m used to being invisible at the gym, probably due to my insecurities a well. An acquaintance saw me on a Wednesday night and said I HAD to go to a group strength training class the following week, especially since I worked out during that time anyway. All week I told myself I was going to be brave, show up, participate, and then I could decide if it was for me. I attended a few other classes where I could stay in my corner and do my thing.  I showed up to class and Jen immediately introduced herself to me. Really?!?! I was used to being anonymous, invisible. Jen saw me. We did stations that day. Jen talked to each one of us, encouraged each one of us, helped each one of us during our workout that day. Jen saw us. Jen saw me. She gave me a compliment I never heard before. She said, ‘you’re strong’ and pointed to bigger weights. I picked up the weights and have been in weekly attendance since. As I worked with her over that summer, she helped me to believe in myself, get the results I was looking for, and helped me hit some of my goals. “I have been a student of Jen for almost 7 years. I’ve taken her: spin, bootcamp, P90X, Piyo, and yoga classes. Jen is fun, creative and passionate about training. One thing I really appreciate about Jen is that she takes the time to get to know you and your goals. Then she challenges you to meet your goals. She will push you but she always tries to make it fun too, whether it’s anew music playlist, a different set of exercises, mixing up weights with resistance bands, or having students lead different parts of the classes – she really puts her all into each session.  Along with helping students reach their objectives, Jen also focuses on form and safety. I can still hear in my head, ‘elbows back!” when doing a tricep extension. She wants you to push a little harder each class but in a safe way. She also likes to educate her students so you have ideas when working out on your own. I highly recommend Jen because of her creativity and passion as well as the friendship.
